The Simple Truth
The backbone of the United States' economy is the manufacturing industry. In the era of regulatory controls, economic downturns, and lagging orders, there are only a few ways to skillfully strenghten the bottomline of all businesses. The mattress industry is no different.
The mattress industry is faced with many of the same issues as all other manufacturers of household goods. The new standards set forth by the Consumer Product Safety Commission have changed the industry. The Recession of 2008 has undermined the dollar and created the setting for lower-quality, cheaper products to enter the US market from abroad. As the country has seen over the past years, some of these foreign products are not safe. Further, the economic downturn has decreased overall sales of household goods, causing them to plummet in 2008 and 2009.
